For many people, and this includes astute observers on the US side of the pond, it has been obvious who has been making genuine attempts to make the fight, and who has been behaving amateurishly via social media, refusing to meet, not communicating, taking time etc.
There is a time and place for trash talk and all that stuff, more so after a fight has been made, it serves to hype up the event for casuals. The problem is that casuals can't read between the lines, and what they take away from some screaming on twitter is what they perceive as facts.
The facts are.
1. Asking AJ to sign a $50m 'offer' and openly saying that you have to sign without knowing terms and conditions, location, judges etc....that may be inconsequential to casuals but any boxing follower knows it's ridiculous to expect a fight to be made that way. Fact, plain and simple.
2. Hearn flew to New York and Wilder's team would not even meet with him. Fact, plain and simple.
3. Joshua is the A side. More belts, more draw. He decides where he wants it. Fact.
4. They sent an offer to Wilder, properly formatted and executed. Received Monday. Wilder is 'mulling it over'. This came out today via a respected US newspaper, link below.
So, as most casuals screetch and whine because they react to drama on social media, actual boxing followers and people with some sense can see who has acted professionally and reasonably, and who has been amateurish and difficult. Kudos to the many Americans who have pointed this out too, among the many who have just been a bit dramatic throughout this saga.
Glad it is coming out now. Hopefully Wilder doesn't 'mull' for too long, it's a great fight and a close match up, great for fans.
