Not sure how you can still claim that when AJ & Hearn have both admitted the offer was real, but that they prefer to take less money to fight at home.

It doesn't make it any less of a publicity stunt.

I asked you in another thread whether that offer was fair on AJ (what he said in an interview, taken out of context is irrelevant).

You refused to answer yes or no.

At 50/50, in the event of it financially exceeding expectations, with all other aspects in Wilders favour it would have been the dumbest move ever from AJ to take that fight. And you know it.

It makes AJ look bad if he doesn't take it, and it makes AJ look bad if he does take it. Hence it's a publicity stunt and not a serious attempt to bring him to America from Wilders people.

The new contract will come along with the next fight. He doesnt need to be part of DAZN. The deal Hearn has done gives DAZN last offer on all UK PPVs.

They've been discussing the major deal points. Purse. Location. Rematch. Date. But the final contract covers all sorts of minor details that try to anticipate every single thing that could ever happen, go wrong, etc. If you don't have experience with complicated multi million dollar deals, that's fine. I'm happy to offer some insight. I negotiate contracts with fighters nearly every day. Once the lawyers get involved, there is all sorts of language to be negotiated by the two sides, even if it's a fairly straight forward deal.

Quote:
You yourself said that ALL the finer details are worked out before contracts are exchanged.
That's simply not true. I said all of the major deal points are worked out before contracts are sent. That's completely different. You agree in principle on the purse and other major deal points and then you go to contract.

I answered you. It was a very fair offer. AJ offered 12 mill flat and claimed it was a fair percentage of what the fight was worth. AJ expressed absolute disbelief at the possibility of the fight being worth 100 million and said if that was really true, just give him 50 million and he'd sign the next day.

So they gave him 50 million. And as a courtesy, it wasn't even 50 million flat. They still offered an upside when it would have been perfectly reasonable to refuse to offer an upside.

If I was advising AJ, I would have insisted on a rematch clause, but I would have taken the 50 million. So much can go wrong in any fight. When you have the chance to make that much money in one night, you take it. AJ could rupture his achilles in training tomorrow and his career his over. He could fight Povetkin next and get upset. Anything is possible. As long as AJ was able to get a rematch clause put in, he should have taken the 50 million.

However, Hearn isn't a manager. He's a promoter. It's not his job to look out for AJ. It's his job to look out for himself. AJ is going to be a free agent soon. It's likely he'll resign with Hearn, but not a definite. The first fight being in the US, controlled by Haymon, puts a tight cap on what Hearn can earn. And then he risks AJ leaving him. There wasn't enough money in it for Hearn to risk that. The fight being in the UK allows Hearn to control the revenue and make money in all sorts of underhanded ways that wouldn't be possible if Haymon controlled the promotion.

Think about it. If this is a two fight scenario, would you rather the first fight be at home or the second fight be at home? For AJ, you're much better off with the second fight at home. Because winning the second fight is 100x more important than winning the first fight.

But if you're Hearn, you need that first fight at home so you can maximize your personal take before risking that you're not even involved in the second fight.

That since it had a deadline of acceptance of idk 48 hours or so and that the offergiver was not available. Since the wbc wbf ibo guy said that a lot of details has to be agreed upon before a major fight is signed, then one must conclude that the 50M offer was a (succesful) PR stunt only.

No. Not at all. It was turned down because the fight would occur in the US.

You mean the fight after? Since the contract expires in September, Joshua is not beholden to tying anything to that fight.
