    Damn right
Except its not Canelo for 9.99; it's Canelo for $100+ or Canelo for $30 (if you simply only pay the fee when Canelo has a fight).

And Golden Boy doesn't have the talent to put much else with that, tbh.

After all of his bluster, all that he's been able to lockdown for Matchroom USA has been Demetrius Andrade, I believe Jessie Vargas, "Albanian Bear" Reshat Mati and a few other prospects, and co-promoter deals for no longer than two fights with basically anyone else.

Eddie Hearn thought he could come with his rep from the UK, flash enough money at Haymon fighters, and get the talent for DAZN.

Haymon's fighters largely laughed in his face, and now Oscar De La Hoya has his own direct deal with the parent company of DAZN to feature Saul Alvarez and the rest of his roster (JoJo Diaz, Jaime Munguia, Ryan Garcia, Diego De La Hoya, Jason Quigley, David Lemieux, etc).

Year 2 comes around, and you're Performance Group; do you honestly go forward with locking in the rest of that billion dollar initial deal, or would you rather scrap that, buy the Matchroom Sport US TV rights for the content as they come up, and then build your US sports app around Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, the sport's biggest star, and his US-based co-promoter?
          Keep sipping that hatorade

          Hahahahaha ahaha

As with most apps, advertisement revenue can go a long way, and I can see DAZN monetizing from within the app for big fights.

In any case, we need to remember that a good portion of fighters' purses come from the live gate. DAZN would be paying for the broadcasting rights alone.
There is no way DAZN or any other network pays a combined purse of $30 million or more without it being ppv. There isn't. On ppvs, roughly 45% goes to the fighters. Canelo-g sold over a million ppvs twice. The rematch was 1.1 million ppvs at $85 a piece. That is about $40 million right there. No advertising or live gate is going to come close to that kind of money. If you honestly believe, that DAZN will throw down $30 or $40 million for one fight, to air on their regular app. you are beyond naïve.

hbo only paid for the broadcasting rights too. hbo has a very healthy number of subscribers. DAZN also has to guarantee Canelo a set amount.

Who knows, though, by your logic, maybe DAZN will pay Floyd $200 million and Khabib $100 million to air a fight between the two on their regular app.

Get out of here. Canelo-Fielding might not be ppv, but Canelo is not going to suddenly accept a fraction of what he can get paid. It is not happening.

It's amazing how when DAZN was launched it didn't seem to have great fighters on it so Hearn was slated. Now they have Canelo and WBSS it's suddenly not got anything to do with Hearn
