You know his resume is thin when the op praising his “historic reign”, didn’t even name any names.

Thin compared to who? If his resume was so thin, how did he reach #1 in boxrec?

Of the top 5 heavyweights right now (Fury, Joshua, Whyte, Wilder and Ortiz), Wilder is the only one with two wins against one of the current top 5 heavyweights in the world.

When Wilder shut out Stiverne, Stiverne was #2 in the Ring ratings.

Whyte's only big win is Parker, in a fight that would have been ruled a draw if a headbutt wasn't mistakenly counted as a knockdown.

You’re talking about him in the same breath as Ali...you can start by comparing significant wins with him I guess.

Do a thread about ggg’s historic reign next...he had all kinds of impressive numbers and statistics too.

Wrong.

There are actually 4 HW champions with more consecutive defences than Wilder: Joe Louis 26, Larry Holmes 19, Wladimir Klitschko 18, Tommy Burns 11.

In terms of most opponents beaten in world title fights, Wilder and Anthony Joshua are tied in 11th place, with 8 beaten opponents.

He tied Ali for second most defenses during a WBC heavyweight reign. Many came close to reaching double digit defenses, but failed. Ali's first reign, Tyson's first reign. Lennox's first reign and Vitali's second reign all got to 9 defenses and then came up short. Only Ali, Holmes and Wilder made it to double digits.

This thread is about the WBC title. Try reading a little closer next time.

So being #2 in the world isn't elite? Being 36 automatically disqualifies a fighter from being elite in your opinion, even if every major expert in the world considers them elite?

It doesn’t interest, much like this doesn’t interest anyone. It comes down to one question...who did he beat? Numbers are fine, but substance is more important. Ggg fought way more top 10 ranked guys, and he still got nothing but criticism for his “historic reign”.
