It makes sense for everyone but Wilder, and he isn't the A-side so he'll have to take what's given. I know mainly people want to take sides and call someone a "duck" blah blah blah... For me there's a few things that are a given here and anyone connected to boxing should've realised:

      - Eddie Hearn will not allow this to happen before his platform on DAZN goes live, especially with it being imminent. This will end up being a huge factor if Wilder is tied to Showtime / HBO.

      - AJ has had half the fights Wilder has, and earned double the money and triple the alphabet titles. He doesn't need to rush.

      - Povetkin will fill another stadium, give AJ another highlight-reel KO and is a legit defence and a good learning fight.

      - Wilder has no other options to make even 1/4 of what he will make against AJ, he will be there as long as he has the WBC belt.

      - If, and it's a big 'if', Fury's comeback picks up pace and he is fighting legit HW's by early 2019 - then there is suddenly another bargaining chip that Team AJ has in these negotiations.

My main point is that Team AJ would be foolish to do this fight now, with so many other moving pieces in the mix that could massively benefit them inside just 12 months.

Sorry Wilder, but you bring nothing to the table but an alphabet title and the chance for AJ to make a little more money than usual and secure his legacy... Their pride won't let them, but Wilder should clearly look to fight the winner of Whyte Vs Parker and try build some noise his end.

As a business man, I totally understand delaying until next April. As a business man, I totally understand lying to the UK fans so they blame Wilder for the delay even though Wilder desperately wanted the fight right away.

I totally understand all of it.

But UK fans need to stop believing everything Eddie says because everything Eddie says is designed to manipulate them.
If Wilder's team knew that AJ/Eddie didn't want the fight then why not just sign the contract? Then when AJ doesn't sign they could embarrass him in front of the whole world.

Sky Adam Smith and Jonny Nelson also said this an hour ago on sky. Povetkin in September or Wilder in November (If he signs) or April 2019 if he doesn’t. All this assuming AJ beats Povetkin and Wilder beats Breazeale.

The reason why the fight was kept being stalled and delayed was because Team Joshua was in secret negotiations with Team Povetkin at the same time they were dealing with Team Wilder.
I don’t think that is a secret (Joshua v Povetkin negotiations), everyone and their ma knows that too. Nothing secret about it. We have all know now for the last 3 months that Team Joshua had two options (Wilder or Povetkin) for his next fight.

You cant have a valid contract without certain terms. No date or time or location. It's not hard to understand. Hearn knew what he was doing.

These fan boys are ******ed. Joshua isn't ducking Wilder and vice versa. No one is ducking.

It's posturing on both sides so they can fatten the pot. Why make 100 million in September when they easily swell it to 150 million minimum?

Guarantee it happens next spring. Also, look at the timetable for Hearns big fights such as Joshua Klitschko, Froch Kessler 2 and Froch Groves 2 etc. All in the spring/summer.
No, make no mistake about it, Joshua's camp is ducking and Wilder called them p@ssies for it. That's not posturing chief.

Just over twelve hours on from WBN putting out the news of a potential agreement this week, the World Boxing Association then give Joshua just 24 hours to agree a battle with mandatory Povetkin - or face losing his WBA title.

Revealing Hearn's date sent in an email on Tuesday, Finkel wasn't impressed that Wilder would be overlooked this time around. "Today I get a letter saying; ‘We’re not going to fight you next, but we’ll fight you the fight after that...and it will be April 13th at Wembley Stadium. So basically, he can tell me next year, but he can’t tell me a date for this year.”

“I never said to Eddie Hearn I would be sending back comments, I wrote to him saying I’m sending back the contract. And he knows the contract would have been signed. “That’s why today, and all of a sudden, the WBA have turned around and given 24 hours.”

The situation is an obvious disappointment to Finkel and the whole Wilder team, who believed Joshua would come through when he originally stated his desire to make the clash happen this year. “Joshua said on TV ‘that I will fight him next’ – he’s not fighting us next. He also said; ‘I swear if he offers me $50m I’ll take the fight tomorrow’. Well, got him the $50m and he still didn’t take it,” pointed out Finkel.

“In fact, they send us an offer which is a flat-fee of $15m with a rematch clause, which we accepted, and then a date of September 15th at Wembley – which they knew was the date for Canelo. So, they never had the intention of doing it. How can you go the same day as Canelo? “They are fighting Povetkin on a later date now so why couldn’t they offer that date to us?

“I asked them on Sunday what date and what venue and they wouldn’t tell us, because they never wanted to do this fight.” “I know they can’t come out and say ‘we don’t want the fight, he dangerous’ - but they are saying they want it and then putting up every barrier they can to stop it,” he added."]Share to Email Finkel, who has been overseeing negotiations with Matchroom Boxing for a massive undisputed heavyweight unification between the two champions, was informed on Tuesday that Alexander Povetkin was Joshua's next opponent.

Without a date or venue they could put this fight two years from now and there would be nothing Wilder could do
