  • [HOLY S**T!] What the f**k are the Dodgers doing?

Let Hanley Ramirez walk - Check

    Trade Dee Gordon - Check

    Edit:

    Trade Matt Kemp - Check

    Trade Zack Greinke - ?

Oh, but we got 36 year old Jimmy Rollins, . F**k Andrew Friedman and his staff of crackheads.

We needed to make a few tweaks, not blow up the whole f**king team.

Lost the offensive power from Hanley, but he's by far the worst defensive SS in the game. Even at his age Rollins is a good defensive SS and a decent hitter. It also paves the way for Corey Seager to take over the position in a year or two.

Dodgers lose a lot of speed with Gordon, but with the guys they received from Miami they turned that into an upgrade at second base in the name of Howie Kendrick.

I don't like them trading Kemp since I've followed his entire career but I trust Friedman knows what he's doing. It'll bring down the payroll considerably and allow Pederson the opportunity to establish himself as the CF of the future. Getting Grandal at catcher is also a considerable upgrade from A.J. Ellis. Check this out, he was 2nd in the league last year saving pitchers 12.6 runs with his framing of pitches while Ellis was second to last. He also hit 15 bombs to make up for the lost firepower with Kemp.

As long as they don't trade Greinke, which would be stupid, these moves make sense by considerably strengthening the defensive up the middle. Give Friedman some credit he turned Tampa into a contender with basically no assets. Upgrading that awful bullpen is the key though.

I don't like any of the moves they've made.

They're paying Dee Gordon ($2.5M) and Dan Haren ($10M) to play for the Marlins, . Not to mention they threw in Miguel Rojas.

Then they flip the only good piece we got in the Marlins trade (Andrew Heaney) for Howie Kendrick. And the Angels aren't paying 1 red cent of his salary. And plus Howie Kendrick's contract expires next season. So they traded the top left-handed pitching prospect in baseball for possibly just a one year rental.

I'll take the 26 year old Dee Gordon and his $2.5M (4 years of team control) over 31 year old Howie Kendrick and his $9.5M expiring contract any day.

4 years and $48 million for Brandon McCarthy?

Kemp for Grandal, huh. And they're paying $30M of Kemp's contract. The Padres got a steal there. They get Kemp for $15M a year for 5 years.

Yasmani Grandal and his .225 average are really going to save us. Maybe if the Dodgers supply him with some great PEDs he'll hit 25 home runs.

I have no problem with acquiring Jimmy Rollins since we have Corey Seager coming, but who knows because the details of the terms of all the deals we've made get worse by the minute. They probably traded Julio Urias and Corey Seager for Rollins.

I'm just glad we didn't get rid of Carl Crawford and Brandon League. We can really build around them, .

The Dodgers whole front office is a band of nerds that have never played baseball in their entire life.

The Dodgers haven't won **** with any of those players. Look at the Giants, they're basically Posey, Sandoval, and a bunch of no name guys. Even with all that talent it's been one playoff failure after another. Moreover, my understanding is the Dodgers clubhouse was very dysfunctional and filled with ego maniacs. This team needed to be shaken up. Let's wait and see how things play out.

Bottom line is they are vastly improved behind the plate as well as second base. Defensively they made a substantial upgrade at SS and trading Kemp will also guarantee a stronger defensive outfield.

As far as the finances go it's really irrelevant since they cut back on their payroll enough by not resigning Ramirez to an outrageous contract as well as giving the Padres a large chunk of Kemp's contract. Two big bats, but let's be honest they are constantly getting hurt and as far I know Kemp was hurting the clubhouse. What you lose with Ramirez offensively is overshadowed by the defensive liability he had become as a guy with no range in the most vital position in the field.

The Kemp trade is addition by subtraction IMO you'll surely get at minimum the same offensive numbers with any combination of Pederson, Ethier, and Van Slyke as well as being substantially better defensively. They've also picked up a considerable number of prospects to strengthen their AAA squad as well as add value to a possible trade in order to pick up another arm or a big bat.

You're undervaluing the importance of a good defensive catcher, particularly when you have one of the best starting rotations in the game. Anything you can get from a catcher offensively is just an extra bonus. Grandal has good power and his 15 HR's are a huge jump from A.J Eliis who only had 3 and batted under .200. Kendrick being 31 doesn't neglect the fact he's still a better overall player than Gordon. Gordon had a good year last year but he really struggled after the All-Star break.

This team is better on paper than it was last year, specially if Pederson is ready to take over at CF opening day. They still need to shape up that awful bullpen though and I'm hearing rumors they might be getting Cole Hamels. Either way I like the direction the team is headed.
