  • Eddie Hearn: Wilder Is So Badly Promoted He Has To Phone-In Chat Shows Himself! [VID]

Hearn has a humorous dig at Wilder's promotional team and overall public profile saying that Wilder has to phone in to chat shows himself and say "My name's Deontay Wilder, you might have heard of me!", whereas he says AJ is entirely the opposite end of the spectrum, already a national superstar as well as a global star too.

To my mind Wilder is one of the most marketable heavyweights in the world with his personality and charisma, and exciting, unorthodox fighting style, so it's unfathomable that he's still relatively unknown!

You would realize revenue is basically the no. 1 reason why fights happen. Hearn offering Wilder 4 mill to knock whyte out is for promotion on Wilders name since the fight is going to happen in the UK. If Wilder doesn't want the promotion then he should accept the less than 15 million offer for the Joshua fight.

Lmao Hearn gets one star and acts like he’s the promoter of the decade. Heard kell brook and DeGale weren’t happy with the way they were promoted. He should be careful with the tough talk because AJ mite not be with him forever. Danny Jacobs has a fight against a low tier fighter this weekend that no one is even talking about.

What American heavyweight is Bob Arum promoting that is more well known?

What American heavyweight is Oscar De La Hoya promoting that is more well known?

What American heavyweight is Kathy Duva promoting that is more well known?

There are hundreds of millions of Americans.

If, by far, the most well known heavyweight among them is Deontay, how can his promoter be the problem when no other promoter is doing a better job with an American heavyweight?

If Arum or De La Hoya had the WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder in their stable, there is a high chance he'd be much more well known than he is now in the USA. Towards the end of the video Hearn asks random people in the streets if they know who Wilder is and no one knows the name. In fact, there is a possibility that Wilder may be more well known in the UK, in terms of actual headcount, purely because of his connection to AJ in the HW division.

But if they're such great promoters, why isn't one of their fighters the WBC heavyweight world champion?

And if they're such great promoters, why would they even need the belt? Why wouldn't one of their US heavyweights still be more well known?

Out of every American heavyweight, Wilder is, by far, the most well known, so why are we criticizing his promoter for him not being more well known when he is the most well known? Doesn't make any sense.

Boxing is not popular in the United States. If Wilder's promoter was the problem, all of the other promoters would have these big American heavyweight stars right? But they don't.

Let's see how big of a star Arum turns Bryant Jennings into.
