Yes that's what I'm saying. In the days when there were only two main federation organizations (WBC & WBA) there was no weight allowances for titled bouts.
There was also era's when the "junior & super divisions were only for prelim or non-titled fights.
If you were at 147 and went to 148 without a +1 or + 2 contract you were a Middlweight not a "junior middle or super welter. The junior and super classes appeared in & out of the boxing landscape for many years.

      160
      175
      OPEN

Would like to see title bouts back to those weights and add in the same day weigh ins and all this ******ed fight time weights could be controlled.
Why should the 147 pound king fight at 167+ pounds?
I don't mind re hydrating to 8-9 pounds but todays weights are BS!!!!

All the ts does is make Golovkin threads.

I think he must be in love with him. This obsession is crazy.

Dude, you are truly committed to your passion-project, GGG

WHY IS THIS EVEN RELEVANT ANYMORE?

Had Canelo insisted on a catchweight for GGG, we might want to have this ******ed discussion.

But Canelo has manned up and will be fighting GGG at 160 (Im pretty sure). The winner will be the 100% legit, undisputed MIDDLEWEIGHT champ. Who cares about catchweights anymore?

Canelo ya no esta dando mamadas, tu tambien debes paralo.

yes it is, and its done to accommodate the opponent, NOT the house fighter. The first 15 or so fights of a guys career there are alot of opponent fallouts, last minute substitutions, etc, its quite common to give an opponent a few extra pounds......

When Keith Thurman was coming up, it was next to impossible to find guys at 147 who would fight him, so alot of Keiths early opponents were actually 154 guys that Keith had to spot 4 or 5 pounds to. That happened so often that there were actually idiots claiming that Keith couldnt make 147 and should move up to 154 and stop fighting smaller guys lol

But you still don't get it! I'm the #1 Golovkin fan here! What does Alvarez have to do with Golovkin's legacy? Golovkin is going to get KO'd in September. When Golovkin moves up to 168 I will rebump this thread and reminisce the "why does Golovkin need to move up? From the #2 fans.

Golovkin is a weird boxer. We wan the best matchups, HBO wanted Ward vs Golovkin and the regular fans waited until 2016 to say they wanted GGG vs Alvarez.

"154-168 easy for me." - Golovkin

Terry, don't you wish Gennady were a 2 Division Champ by now? When he loses to Alvarez will you remember my threads that he should've fought Abraham even before Ramirez took it? What about all the ggg fans that said DeGale or Jack didn't stand a chance with Golovkin. It's not like Ward is a threat anyways nor was he in the division in 2016

Has anybody been talking about Golovkin lately? Does anybody know if Nelo vs GGG happening? Haven't seen any posts this year about Golovkin. Strange
