I don't think it is a reach to assume a majority of people who would buy a Canelo headlined PPV would also have likely bought the May-Cotto with or without Canelo. The idea of subtracting PPV buys by assigning them to other fighters is just people being butthurt. We got a great night of boxing, we should all be happy. Hating on crap like this just makes people look like dumbass nationalist WWE fans.
You actually have to factor in who else was on the card when it comes to ppv buys. There are plenty of Puerto Ricans who would have not purchased the fight had it not been for Cotto the same way that many Mexicans would have not purchased the card had it not been for Canelo.

To accurately gauge Floyd's drawing power, he would have to headline a ppv card against a fighter with no drawing power. Fighting the 3rd biggest draw in the sport along with probably the most popular Mexican fighter at the moment on the undercard definitely adds to the buy #'s

Richard's problem is he never "low balls" the buy figure so that when the actual PPV buys surpass it you say it was a big success. Now if it does 1.6-1.8 people will say "Richard said it wuld be 2 mil! What a moron!"

I mean he did say "could" although you are correct people will take that as he said it did rather that say it was possible.

Ortiz was a pretty good gauge and he did just over a mil according to Shaefer. That's about what Floyd will do on his own name. I'd say anything above 1.25for this past bout has to be credited to a popular opponent along with a great undercard.

It's possible. The weigh-in had crazy attendance, more than what a regular venue would have on an actual fight night.

I'm going to guess this thing does around 1.4mil or so.

If he sells around 2 million with Cotto, why should he give Pac 50-50???

                  Don't matter he's:

                  Young
                  undefeated
                  mexican
                  backed by oscar
                  good looking(no ****)
Could do very well if he started acting in telemundo soaps

                  Mexicans love this kid already.

Well, you have to thank the Mexican fans for buying it because of Canelo.

If you want to credit Floyd for every single ppv purchase, then you'd also have to say that he would do the same #'s fighting a guy like Devon Alexander along with a mediocre undercard with 2 non popular opponents.
