  • why do people put so much stock into "tv ratings"???????

those numbers are pretty much to gauge and get an idea of how many people are watching but in reality its not even close to the true number. especially in todays era of technology. some of these fights play at bars/resturants/parties. and thats not even including streaming and that whole wave of things. i see people here use ratings like the numbers are exact when nobody truely knows. but what is true is that way more people are watching around the world than the networks say.

True, of course it isn't accurate but it still gives some sort of reflection on popularity.

Imagine having Canelo fight one week and Berto fighting the next. The TV ratings numbers will be vastly different.

Because its a gauge of what a fighter is worth. No draw no money.

It's a reason not to fight a good fighter because of the risk/reward factor. Totally understandable UNLESS your favorite fighter is on the wrong side of it or a fighter you don't like uses that reason.
