DAZN, the streaming-sports outlet led by former ESPN chief John Skipper (above, pictured), is adding documentary programming to its slate of live-sports properties.

DAZN will debut “The Journey: Canelo/Rocky,” an original episodic program that takes fans behind the scenes as the December 15th super middleweight championship fight between Canelo Alvarez and Rocky Fielding at Madison Square Garden draws near. The show will take fans behind the scenes as both fighters prepare for the event. The series premiere will debut on DAZN’s platform and YouTube channel on Thursday, Dec. 6.

The move suggests DAZN, which entered the U.S. in July and is backed by U.K.-based Perform Group, isn’t limiting its ambitions to the boxing, mixed-martial arts and other sports programming it features for $9.99 a month. “DAZN continues to evolve as the sports network of the future and high-end content focused on our biggest boxing events is part of the plan,” said Joseph Markowski, DAZN EVP, North America, in a prepared statement “Fight fans are more educated than ever and we want to be an integral part in preparing them for the best and biggest fights of the year.”

The second episode in “The Journey” will launch Thursday, December 13, just a few days before the fight is scheduled to take place. The series finale, an epilogue, will debut Friday, Dec. 21.

“The Journey” is executive produced by Jason Bowers and Grant Best, and will be narrated by bilingual film and television star Jaime Camil.

The match between Alvarez and Fielding marks the first fight of the former’s 11-fight partnership with DAZN. It marks Alvarez’ s first fight at Madison Square Garden, and the first time he will fight in the super middleweight division in his 13-year career. Fielding is currently the super middleweight title holder.

Nice, so DAZN's version of All Access and 24/7.

They definitely need more programming. Really have nothing in between fights.

Yeah they should also do something like ESPN does for the NFL Primetime show. Where you have live talk, highlights of the weekend fights, interviews ect. Hell you have Brian Kenny who did something similar for years on ESPN for Friday Night Fights. They need more content during the weekdays between weekend fights.

Kenny would be perfect. He's knowledgeable and a great listen. Have him talk it up with a few guests about the events coming up, or have him doing it live fight night.

          Nice.

They need to do more shoulder sh^t for fight week to. They show too much bs the day of the fight inbetween fights. Makes the day too f#cking long & the time between fights wayyyyyy too f#cking long.

They need to get my man Mannix interviewing cats in longer form interviews.

They need to find some sexy girl who'll go watch some dude training or hanging with him during training camp for a day or something like that.

They need to hire my mfers from Sunday Puncher to do some kinda show.

They need to hire Shannon Briggs or Naseem Hamed to host their version of Face Off.

They need to have a media pundits/boxer type show with 4 or 5 cats each week. Give my man Bellew a spot on it every couple weeks. Throw all these other cats we hiring for shows on there every couple weeks. Throw Hearn & Oscar on there once in awhile. Throw fighters who are on DAZN on there every couple weeks. And just have them shoot the sh^t about current going ons with boxing & the next big DAZN fight.

They need to fire those hipsters Ak & Barak & send them back to gay p#rn or wherever they came from.

                  if any fight needed a 24/7 it's Canelo/Fielding

that being said, hopefully they keep it around for some actual meaningful fights.
