Overpopulation is the base reason which causes all these other issues. The main one imo is farming. Deforestation to make room for livestock removes all the c02 sucking plants and replaces it with cattle which produce an insane amount of methane and overshadows fossil fuel consumption.

Ha very knee jerk reaction there.

That is one possibility, people turn their nose up at it but it is possible. Humans can live healthily through a purely vegetarian diet. But we will, as a race, be forced to do something about overpopulation and the way we produce our food, sometime in the not so distant future.
