  • Injured nose

Has anyone had this problem in their career...

I once clashed heads during a bout a couple years ago and was sure it was broken, went to doocots and they told me it wasn’t so that was that.

As the years have went past I have now transitioned into the pro game and now 6 weeks from debut I was sparring 4 days prior to this post and was caught straight down the middle 😫

My nose was bleeding but not for long and now when I tap on my nose it hurts but doesn’t hurt when am pinching it and trying to move it? Could this be a fracture or cartilage damage? No black eyes day after and no swelling, just pain when tapping on nose so obv if I take a punch on the button it’s gonna hurt.

Hopefully someone’s had this bull**** problem. Cheers

Can’t say I’ve ever had a broken nose. It could be a septal hematoma and if that’s the case, you CAN move and squeeze your nose.

I’d get it looked at. Nose injuries aren’t fun and it’s such a vulnerable spot especially in boxing. Get it looked at as hematomas in the nose don’t usually heal the way they do in other parts of the body and usually have to be drained. They can be pretty dangerous. Err on the side of caution when it comes to any injury to the head ESPECIALLY if you box. Ears, eyes, nose..just..everything. Even cuts in bad places should get treated by a specialist like a cosmetic surgeon or someone who can do a better job so it heals better and is stronger. Obviously not cheap but be mindful dude

I had a deviated septum, a broken nose, and then a septal hematoma. If its the hematoma you will be able to see the swelling inside your nose if you tilt your head back (can google for similar situations). If that's the case then you should really get them drained.

Otherwise it may just be a bone bruise or something on the bridge of your nose. I had that as well for a bit, but its not nearly as bad. Should be fairly healed up in a couple weeks. Probably won't feel the pain that much during the fight, but could def hurt.

Ice it and use saline nasal spray.

How many rounds is the fight?

Sometimes I use a nose guard when I get a nose injury during sparring

I hate "see a doctor" posts but seriously dude... no one here has a fking clue what's going on with your nose. If your health means anything to you, see a doc. Esp before it potentially heals wrong.

Can’t see any swelling as such but it has been a good while since it happened, will be 4 rounds and I know I won’t feel it during the actual bout but it’s kinda hard to get good rounds in when your constantly worried about it, just bloody annoying more than anything lol

Well obv if someone’s had the same fcking problem they could advise me on what was wrong with them that way I could tell my doctor that instead of the doctor telling me just to rest, is that ok with you?

If it's painful when you touch it...are you sure you don't have a broken finger?

I've had it feel like jelly before... but it didn't last long. I don't think it was broken but I guess it was? I never really had any nose issues. I'd sometimes use a spray before fights.
