Home Defense - A Gun, Guard Dog or Security Alarm?

I just brought my first house. I wanted to ask all the home owners here what security do you have at your house ?

I got a quote for a security system which my wife wants me to buy. I have dead bolts on all my doors entering my house besides the basement which is connected to the garage.

I own two guns, loaded with hollow tips. Will be getting a shotgun very soon.

I want a dog, I plan on getting a dog. However the alarm company stays the dog has to be 80lb max to not set off the motion sensor.

What do you guy do to protect your home?

in a low crime community.

Mine was working class. Prob solved at no extra expense. Kept my backdoor open for my kids and their friends during the summer.

I guess I have it covered. I have guns but never needed them, hope I never do. Have an alarm system but it is always off unless I am out of town. Have a pack of big dogs. But there is always people here and plenty of cars out front so we generally don't need to worry about home defense.(knock on wood)

I live in a pretty much same type of area however evil can come in any forms and I work alot and my wife is alone.

The area you can here a pin drop however down town is a different story but that's any city. I live on a giant hill / baby mountain.

I live in a nice neighborhood but we have an alarm system - specifically ADT.
Don't feel the need to possess a gun or dog.

The alarm system is working well. The guns are also doing well.

The puppy has literally changed my life.
