Yeah because Tank did a great job against an old, faded Gamboa with one leg. He looked like garbage in that fight that most people, including bias Tank fans, assumed Tank would obliterate him in a couple of rounds. Without the achilles injury, Davis would've been schooled by Gamboa. Davis is in his prime yet struggled with an old, disabled Gamboa. How does that make him great? I know one thing for sure, you are a grade A moron.

If he doesn't straighten himself out, he could already be on the downward slide.
Well Gamboa still had something left in the tank. Even at that age, Gamboa moves better than LSC and has faster hands. Gamboa had a couple of decent wins going into the fight, against Roman Martinez and Jason Sosa. Davis did stop Gamboa afterall. He did what he had to do. It would have been a disaster for him if he lost, but he put that name on his resume as a W and he will have to take that performance as a learning experience. But I donít think Gamboa has anything to do with LSC whatsoever. Like Mosley struggling with Mayorga en route to a 12 round KO, and due to that performance he was underdog vs Margarito, who had just beaten Cotto. I had predicted Mosley would beat Margarito (not by TKO but by SD) and everyone and their mothers thought Mosley would get obliterated, citing his performance vs Mayorga (a different style from Margarito). And they were very wrong, and so was I, in terms of the way Mosley would win.

All in all, boxing fans usually never take styles into account when looking at a mediocre performance and basing their future predictions for that fighter on that performance, regardless of what style his next opponent has.

I donít see any similarities between Gamboa and LSC and have no clue why anyone would base their prediction for Davis-LSC on that fight.

The PBC showcases cant have been good for LSC. Its been so long since he fought a significant fight, he may not be ready for Tank.

Altho, I'll believe this when I actually see them in the ring together. They've been saying each other's names for awhile now. Rumors are that now its real, but who knows.

Cruzito gets steamrolled at 135 I think. At 130 it would be much more competitive.

Santa Cruz would have to fight and counter punch from the outside like he did in the Mares and Frampton rematches to win this fight. At 130 though. He'd lose either way at 135.

Don't tell me I'm not taking styles into account. You totally misinterpreted my post. I'm well aware of the fact that LSC and Gamboa are totally different fighters. My point was, Davis had trouble with a faded/past his prime (whatever you want to call it) fighter in Gamboa with an achilles injury! The guy was on one leg for the bulk of the fight and Davis still had problems. No way in hell was Gamboa faster in that fight that Santa Cruz is. That's total nonsense. Santa Cruz has fast hands and moves quite well, especially without an achilles injury.
To say, well Davis did his job and got rid of him eventually is a total cop out and doesn't take into account the fact that most people, I'm sure yourself included, thought Davis would demolish Gamboa.
It blows my mind how fans would look at Davis' last mediocre performance, against an injured, old Gamboa and say he would definitely demolish Santa Cruz. Forget about styles, if you struggle with an injured fighter past his prime, you should also struggle with a healthy fighter in his prime. If you don't understand that, I have nothing else to say regarding the matter.
