That's a very good point. I've read those who couldn't make it in academically challenging roles such as banking etc were usually at the bottom of society and converted to christianity anyway. They also seemed to value intelligence when arranging marriages eg fathers would happily marry off their daughters to poor scholars, compared to most societies where money is perhaps the primary reason.

Intelligence does not automatically translate to brute force and savagery. Genghis Kahn and his nomads lived in tents and never had anything to with academia, yet they brought all of Asia to their knees even though China, Persia, and Kievan Rus at that time were far more superior academically, yet they all fell.

That statement is extremely dumb, what is the connection between religion and intelligence? if anything its the complete opposite, believing in a religion in itself, makes you dumb.

Beliving you own a peice of land because of a book, and forcing the people out that live there and bombing schools and hospitals, murdering children and forcing the remaining people to live in an open air prison all because of 'sacred land' is dumb, evil and absolutely disgusting.

Its not like they knew they were going to be gassed early on. By the time people really knew what was going on it was too late. Its not like they had the internet or could use a cell phone to book a flight or call an Uber. You had to have the means to escape as well.

First off, they were disarmed. It's not hard to slaughter an unarmed populace.
(And yet that fool is one of the D superfans demanding more gun bans.)

Second, the majority were from conquered nations. They were stuck once their countries were overran, and often Hitler attacked other nations without declaring war.

I had family from Poland slaughtered in the Holocaust.

But some escaped before the war to America. They saw it coming and got out while they could.

But many either failed to see it coming or could not escape.

Plus, we are looking at this with hindsight. It was inconceivable at the time a nation would slaughter people on an industrial scale like that.

People thought Hitler was just a nut spouting off, and he never publicly spoke of the camps and the machine of death going on.

Even troops who liberated the camps were stunned at what they saw.

Many cultures stress education, reading, knowledge.

This does not mean all within that culture are successful, have money or are well learned.

There are many poor and uneducated Jewish people as their are poor and uneducated in every culture.
