  • If Pacq continues to fight weak opps or lose to high lvl fighters willhurt his legacy

Can his career shining moments from 2000s overshadow any more loses or cherry picks if he keeps on fighting out of his prime years?
Sugar Ray Robinson, Duran, Roy Jones alaways get passes for the loses and cherry picks in their last years of fighting so what about Manny?

Floyd cherry picked his for much of his career, and especially last 2 fights which will stay in minds. And Floyd will be OK legacy wise with a top 20 standing.
So poac will be ok cherrypicking to retirement and being roibbed

his legacy is already set in stone unless he does something crazy like become president and demand gay people be executed.

He's about to be 40 so no. His prime ended in 2012 after the Marquez KO. Any good wins (there really weren't any) after that would mean something but any losses would mean nothing (to him or the opponent). That's what happens when a guy is over the hill. It's like anything that happened to Jones post 2004.

Don't forget about his socks being too tight.

People can say how many times jones got humiliated and got knocked out post 2004, but he will be remember for being probably the best prime fighter in boxing history. It is the same for Pacquiao, he's not going to be remembered for his losses, his trilogy with Morales, rivalry with Marquez and how he humliated Barrera in his home town, the weight jumping etc. etc.

If a few losses means so much then what is to achieve?

Pacquaio's career is really judged from 2001-2012. Even the flyweight title doesn't factor in much IMO. It's when he came to America in 2001 and when he was finished as a truly elite fighter in 2012. Barrera, Morales, Marquez were a good measuring stick of his quality IMO.

Great fighter. Overrated IMO by his rabid fans and underrated by his equally rabid detractors. I'm more neutral/dislike him I'd put him top 50 all-time probably around the 35-45 range.

I agree with this. At this point, if he loses it does nothing to tarnish his overal career/legacy and it does nothing to enhance the opponents. He’s set.

Even if he has a couple more wins, they won’t be over any credible guys or he meaningful career affecting wins, even if he looks great doing it, it won’t boost him all that much.

From a positive standpoint or a negative one, there’s no need in Manny carrying on at all.
