Michael spinks was his greatest win. It signified the absolute peak of his prime. After this fight Kevin Rooney was fired and tyson looked vulnerable against bruno. Vs williams he showed no technique and was looking for one puch to end the fight. We all know what happened with douglas.

      Are we counting his losses?

Knocked out heavyweight lineal champion, undefeated Michael Spinks in 1 minute, 30 seconds and was the first and only to knock out Larry Holmes, which he did in 4 rounds.

Those are his two best wins. Other notable wins over undefeated Tony Tucker, Bruno 2x, Ruddock 2x. Defeated 6 reigning champions. 10 victories over world champions.

The drop off in Tyson post Rooney was unbelievable. But your point sort of proves my point in that Tyson's resume is pretty weak and his legacy is really more a thing of boxing mythology than anything concrete.

People will talk badly about the Klitschko's because they'll beat Haye by saying he's a blown up Cruiserweight, even though Haye is a more formidable fighter in every regard than Spinks was.

Yet a lot of people on this site will call Tyson's win over a blown up light heavyweight a "great win".

            Not you, but other people.

Tyson's wins over Berbick, Bonecrusher, Pinklon Thomas, Tucker, Biggs, Holmes, Tubbs, Spinks, Bruno, Carl Williams, Bruno again, and Seldon are, at the very least, identical to the competition that Wladimir has faced. The difference remains that Tyson took his opponents out earlier in more entertaining fashion. That alone makes him a greater fighter. Comparing the performance of a prime Tyson and a prime Klitschko is embarrassing for Wladimir.

Tyson was more fan friendly, but a lot of those guys you mention were bum level fighters.

Wladimir is not as tv friendly, but in terms of technique and pedigree, Mike Tyson ranks like an amateur by comparison.

You can point to being ktfo by Corrie Sanders but I can also point to losing to Buster Douglass over a 10 round asswhooping.

I would argue Holmes is his best win but it was a Holmes close to 40.

Yet Mike Tyson always gets ranked so highly in Hw lists when he really fought a lot of bums in his prime along with old guys and a former light hw (spinks).

After losing to Douglass he went on to lose most of his "big" fights so aren't we being too kind to Tyson because of some sort of misplaced nostalgia about American hw boxing?
How about Trevor Berbick, James Smith and Michael Spinks. The 3 heavyweight champs at the time. You don't **** on any man who unifies the Titles. He knocked the **** out of 2 of those guys. What else do you want. Holmes talked a big game and paid the price for it. Old or not Tyson did what he had to do with an aging fighter. The man gets nothing but respect from me.

Was Berbick really any good? Same for Smith? And Micheal Spinks was a light heavyweight.

Its cool that he kttfo, but we gotta be objective about this.

Meaning, I think a prime Samuel Peter probably sparks all three of those guys out too.

So now we're back at square one.

Is Tyson the Bad*ss the myth makes him out to be? No, not by a longshot. Like i said, the win against spinks was Tyson's "personal best," and the peak of his abilities. Not a great win. People will say what they want, but look at what "blown up RJJ who weighed 193" did to John Ruiz. Nobody is making haye fight at HW and he is there for a reason. Those people have no argument.
