On the question of whether Texas is turning blue? Yeah, I don't think there is any doubt about that, the question is just how blue it will get before it tops off. If its Republican +6-10 instead of Republican +20-30 like it used to be, then its still ok. But the fact that Beto O'Rourke came within 3 points of beating Ted Cruz is not a good sign.
The better feel for what's going on will be this year's senatorial race. Beto, for whatever reason, was well liked by the millennials and had a very good ground game for his race AND Ted Cruz is a scumbag, has done nothing for Texas besides run for President and suck Trump's male member, and everyone knows it. In 2020, there is as of yet no clear cut Dem winner of their own race, and Cornyn is a lot more respected than Cruz. If a no name Dem (and all the Dems now in the primary race are no names) wins the general election then the blue wave is real. If not, then we're in a different ballgame.

Even if there is a blue wave, Cornyn isn't going anywhere. First there isn't a single recognizable energetic candidate that the Democrats are putting up against him like they did with Beto against Cruz, and two, Cornyn unlike Cruz is actually liked. But if Cornyn should lose the Senate seat, then Texas is not turning blue, it already is blue.

Texas is turning blue. Yes it due to Californians and New Yorkers. They may be righties when asked but compared to Texans they are blue or at least vote blue. All major cities in Texas are blue. Every last one. Only red areas are in the sticks.

Resistance is futile. America loves money. Thus will ultimately lean blue. Righties are mainly ideological. Leftist policies drives the force of capitalism. Look at all the economic centers in the USA. Are are blue. I have never seen an economic center red. Ever.

This just isn't true. I read up that last election people from CA saved the State from turning blue. I'll have to try and find the article.

This is a very limited elementary and tunnel focused argument of national geopolitics, things just do not work that way.

If Texas, Arizona, and Georgia turn blue, then places like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Iowa, and Michigan will turn red. This has been true throughout the history of the USA.

As for Florida, that place will forever remain a battleground state that leans red because each year it gets a mass migration of boomers and older people retiring to it, which means they vote red.

Nah man.
Texas isnt turning blue anytime soon. As an article in the new republic stated: And while OíRourke came tantalizingly close to knocking off Ted Cruz last fall, that race seemed to have all the hallmarks of a flukeóa Republican senator who even Republicans canít stomach, running in a strong Democratic midterm cycle against a fresh-faced liberal who eschewed all forms of conventional political wisdom and ran a campaign so novel, so tireless, and so perfectly made for social media that it became a viral sensation.

And still couldnít win.
