Then going into the fight, Floyd's team and Schaeffer promote the fight by calling Maidana a KO artist.
24 hours to the fight, they remove the KO artist's gloves.

Just say you hate Mayweather and get it over with. The practice of the "A" side dictating terms like ring size, gloves, entrance and headline have gone on for years. Why the big fuss now?
Personally, I thought it was chicken**** that Maidana wasn't allowed to wear the gloves of his choice during the rematch but I didn't sweat it because the same type of crap happened to Mayweather when he faced De La Hoya. It's just par of the business...were you also upset when Klitschko got caught altering the floor padding for his fight with Fury?

Maidana was forced to use bigger gloves by contract in the second fight. Mayweather wanted to reduce his power as much as possible, don't bull shiet on us.
****ing fl0mo.Originally posted by eco1 View PostThat is not true at all.
What Mayweather did with Maidana was a power move to punish Maidana for trying to fight with unpadded gloves. Plus if you know a damn thing about boxing, camps try to get every advantage they can get going into a fight that big, why did Freddie Roach complain about the way Floyd was getting his hands wrapped? Floyd puts extra padding on his hands (which is actually better for Pacquiao) to protect them from being broken during the fight, Freddie did it cuz that's exactly what Freddie wanted , for Floyd in injure his hand in the fight like he always did.
FLoyd fought bigger punchers than Maidana and they all wore the gloves they wanted to wear, and they were all better than Maidana technically, but they all came up short.

And Floyd allowed Cotto to use the very same gloves Maidana wanted, it had nothing at all to do with the glove brand or type like the guy above said it was to punish Maidana for trying to pull a fast one on him .

So, yes, the answer, as me and the OP said, is that Mayweather tried to nulify Maidana's power. Period. Maidana didn't cheat. The gloves were ok. Everlast CEO:
Everlast CEO Neil Morton defended his company's manufacturing process for the boxing gloves and said he believes the dispute was simply a case of Mayweather seeking a psychological edge.
Morton said the custom gloves are manufactured exactly the same way as the stock gloves and the only difference is a different color of leather is used. He said he is willing to cut the gloves open to prove that to anyone who questions the validity of his claim. He said he didn't understand why the custom gloves were ruled invalid.
However, it could be that the commission was simply trying to broker a deal and placate Mayweather, given that the stock red gloves had been approved.Last edited by _Maxi; 01-02-2017, 09:27 AM.
