  • Comments Thread For: Cleverly vs Krasniqi on 3/16, Warren Wins Purse Bid

Promoter Frank Warren won this morning's official WBO purse bid for the light heavyweight battle between champion Nathan Cleverly (25-0, 12 KOs) and mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi (39-2, 15 KOs). Warren, who promotes Cleverly, was represented by Dean Powell - and he secured the rights with a winning bid of $500,000. Ulf Steinforth of SES, on behalf of Krasniqi, came up short with a bid of $431,650. Warren advised the World Boxing Organization that Cleverly-Krasniqi will take place on March 16th and the location will either be in London, Liverpool or Cardiff.

I want to hate Cleverly but this is all Warren's doing and what a mess he's making...

Cleverly is obviously not talented enough to be worthy of holding a world title yet Warren does his best to stall and regress his career. Cleverly needs much better tests and a wake up call that the best at 175 are not the likes of Shawn Hawk or Krasniqi.

      An embarrassment to our sport.

              LOL green k...

What the hell is this fight though? Mandotory or not titles mean nothing in boxing today, just drop it and move on!

Thhing is i dont think Cleverly is that bad, lacks power but he tough and a good boxer with speed. Welsh fans will support him better if he takes tough fights than if he doesnt so Warren isnt building his fanbase particularly. (see how much Calzaghes fan base grew once he started taking on other world champs). Froch should be an example to all boxers that losing doesnt matter, if anything hes become way more popular since he lost (partly sky deal obviously).

On top of that hes fighting in the ghostland of Boxnation, boxers dont have long shelf lives. Cleverly needs to get away from Warren ASAP.

Krasniqi beats Cleverly IMO, think he stops him too.
