The Taliban waged a sustained war against human rights and sexual equality ever since they were empowered to do so by the Soviet invasion. Public executions, rapes, beatings, intimidation and mutilation. These bearded thugs attempted to crush the spirit of their people, and that is just the majority castes. The other ethnic groups who were pariahs before the rise of the Taliban were treated with even more brutal disdain afterwards.
