British isnt an accent, there are many different countries in the UK with their own languages and hundreds of different accents.

In what situation? And there is also a huge difference between regions in both countries, so this would probably have to be a little more specific. What makes an accent "better"? Are we talking something like easier to understand, more proper, sounds better on a chick? This question is too broad

You can actually understand Americans when they speak English even if you are a foreigner, cannot say the same for some parts of the UK.
