  • Comments Thread For: Tony Bellew: I Had To Retire, My Body Can't Take it No More

Nah, he said would retire before the fight took place either way, so unless that was BS, boxing didnt retire him. Anyway, who cares? He took on the king. He did what so many others this generation failed to do, and that's why there are so many angry arguments between boxing fans now because no one is getting the opportunities they deserve to prove themselves, so we end up with situations like GGG's career where the debate will never end as to how good he was, or was not, in his prime, because no name fighters gave him a chance in his prime.

Bellew gave Usyk that chance, like a true champion. Massive respect for Bellew. And he gave a hell of a fight too. He let all his bullets go, and he let them go intelligently. Usyk just dodged most of them, and had the chin to take the ones he got caught with, but Bellew left it all out there. If they fought 100 times like this, Bellew would have KO'd him at least a couple times, because of how well he was fighting. Respect.

Props to the winner, but this fight proved nothing, he's a good boxer and has good speed but i hardly believe he'll take over HW

Even though it was concerning during the interview that big KO was probably the best indicator for Bellew to hang them up for good. That's the kind of damage that stays with you and can cause severe problems if you keep stepping back in the ring.

You've got to respect Bellew for that. He talks too much and annoyed a lot of people but he's done well, and getting in with Usyk showed the type of character he had. He did all he could and had a good first few rounds but Usyk was just too good.

He used his feet to pressurise him and made Tony work very hard early without throwing much himself. Then when he'd felt the power and saw he was slowing him down he stepped it up, systematically took him apart and knocked him out. Tony did well but got a false sense of security fron the first 3 rounds. It was a great tactical performance from Usyk.

Looking forward to him moving up. His feet alone will cause a lot of the heavies trouble.

Gave a good showing of himself, ultimately the extra quality from Olek told is all.
