Well actually, being a criminal in sociolotron is not without it's consequences. You can be tried for assault, murder, rape, and sentenced to prison. Your weapons are removed upon arrest, and are not returned. However, if you can attempt to kill the 5 guards at the gate and escape, or fight your way out of an arrest attempt. If it is a player guard, you might get an assault charge, you may not. Society scores now give you a chance to commit a crime with the possibility the socio alignment of the district you are in matches your own.
As for running for office, as all government officials you face the possibility of being PK'ed (Perm Killed) when you are a judge or Prime Minister. Which means your toon goes straight to hell if you do not have an heir.

I'm sure all this can be confusing to someone who doesn't know Socio.
