  • Eddie Hearn fears that Deontay Wilder Will Reject Offer Of Dillian Whyte Fight

Deontay Wilder could make the next defence of his WBC title in September or October, but promoter Eddie Hearn fears he will reject the offer of a Dillian Whyte fight.

The unbeaten American heavyweight is yet to announce his next opponent and Hearn has tried to set up a world title defence against Whyte, who is due to make his US debut this summer.

But Wilder seems to have rejected the deal in an expletive-laden rant on social media.

"I've made several offers to Al Haymon's team and we are awaiting a final answer, but I think Deontay made things clear on his Instagram," Hearn told Sky Sports.

"It's a great offer and a great career move - a chance to earn plenty of money but also be involved in a real fight and IF he is good enough to win then it sets up a massive fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

"What I'm seeing from these camps is a reluctance to face Dillian. They know he is a handful and it's more than likely you are going to have a roll around at the press conference as well.

"Let's hope we can all be sensible and give the fans what they want - real heavyweight match-ups."

Promoter Lou DiBella, who works closely with Wilder, pointed out that he would rather prefer the 'Bronze Bomber' fulfils a mandatory title defence against Bermane Stiverne.

"His immediate priority is to get the biggest fight he can get, but the Bermane Stiverne fight is a reality we have to deal with," DiBella told Sky Sports.

"He is still technically the WBC mandatory and we are the WBC champion."

SO EVEN THOUGH HEARN HAS OFFERED WILDER HIS HIGHEST PAYDAY YET AND TOLD HIM THAT HE WILL BE IN LINE FOR A FIGHT WITH AJ IF HE WINS.. THEY HAVE REJECTED IT TO FIGHT STIVERNE!!! BOTH WBC AND STIVERNE WERE READY TO TAKE STEP ASIDE BUT LOOKS LIKE WILDER WANTS THAT FIGHT NEXT.

How are you Wilder fans gonna sugar coat this??? WIDLER IS DUCKING WHYTE AND AJ!

You cant say they offered him less money.. $4mil would be his highest payday
You cant say Whyte is a bum.. He's gonna fight Stiverne instead! Do you guys consider Stiverne an elite HW?
You cant say he wants AJ.. HearN confirmed the winner gets a shot at AJ!

    DEONTAY "DUCKSQUAD" WILDER!!

Stiverne is his mandatory and needs to be taken care of. What don't you get about that? The Joshua fight isn't going away as long as Wilder sticks around winning and Whyte fight will also be there if Joshua needs to to take care of other things.

The WBC belt is what has Wilder in the picture he needs to keep that above all else, as long as he has that belt he needs to be dealt with. Dropping the belt to fight Whyte would be a terrible idea for his long term prospects.

I hate that the WBC mandated Stiverne but it is what it is at this point and should just be taken care of before anything else so things can progress more smoothly in a better direction.

No one is ducking Whyte he is no where close to good enough to even entertain those kinds of thoughts.

His team won't put him in with anyone until they cash him out V AJ.

Even a bum like whyte is a risk.

Stirverne rematch and then he'll be out for another 6 months with another injury, then get knocked out agaisnt AJ next year.

Just finish up Stiverne already for god's sake so there's no excuses for turning down any other fights

Both WBC and Stiverne are willing to take step aside.. if they do it once they can do it again and keep pushing the ****ty rematch with Stiverne back.

Fact is Wilder is ducking Whyte and a career high payday for 5x less in a fight against Stiverne that no one wants to see.

Dillian Shyte got exposed against Delboy.

Bomber could end him in 30 seconds and still get no respect.

Fury, Ortiz, Parker... these are the men he needs to earn his just due.

Stiverne got exposed by Rossy and dropped by him... Rossy is the definition of a bum.. Are you really going to tell me you'd rather see Wilder face Stiverne over Whyte? Even though Whyte gets him his highest payday and a shot at AJ? WTF.

Deontay Wilder is a duck.. 38 fights later its obvious.. if looks like a duck, quacks like a duck its most definitely a duck!

All I see is you saying that not it actually being reality, it is more wishful thinking on your part. Plus even if Stiverne is willing to step aside then it needs to happen next so it is meaningless to have him step aside because Whyte if he is any good will be around so that fight will be there next if he needs to stay busy.

Or something better could open up, fighting Whyte now dooms him to fighting Stiverne next. So fighting Whyte here makes no sense, other than to cash in against a guy who would likely catch loses to guys Wilder has already beat. Wilder is doing fine financially speaking so while he should take the fight because he gains a lot for no risk, there are other things at play that make the option not appealing, plus it can happen after Stiverne what is the rush?
