He looks great under Reynoso improving in every area but they got Reynoso specifically for defense. It's a short sample only 2 fights but he is getting hit drastically less that's all Reynoso and you see more shots getting picked off, more head shoulder movement, etc. This kid will be world champ he was already a elite amateur but his dad training him could only take him so far, getting a world class trainer was the best move he could make and so far Reynoso has been a perfect fit.
A lot of father son fighter/trainers wait until the fighter is too old or suffered a devastating loss before they bring in a world class trainer to replace their dad and by then it's too late there is only so much the fighter can improve. Ryan is ridiculously young and this is the age and stage where fighters can be molded and teached.

Good stuff, looks like they're working hard.
I think one of that kid's biggest flaws is the fact that when he tries to unleash a combo, he focuses too much on putting speed and power on his shots that he closes his eyes midway through the combo. You can get away with this as an amateur, but not against top pros. They're training for different scenarios, but if his eyes are closed and not watching what's coming back Amir Khan things can get really dangerous.
Also I wanna see him do defense drills where someone throws random punches at him and he's only allowed to defend to train himself to react right to different punches and to train him to keep his eyes open at all times. Can't close your eyes in boxing.Last edited by Dip_Slide; 05-18-2019, 01:06 PM.

Kind of wish Devin Haney had stayed with Floyd Sr but his dad has other ideas.
