i don't think they realize how good guys like byron mitchell , robin reid , charles brewer , omar sheika , etc. was back then.

they were highly ranked and ranked for several years.

      they're just not known names.

          Hopkins>>Pascal
          Eubank>Taylor
          Kessler>Dirrell
          Lacy = Abraham
          Bika>Magee
          Jones
          Mitchell
          Brewer
          Woodhall
          Reid
          Veit

Really it's a whitewash and if you know anything about boxing you'd agree.

            Calzaghe:
            - Eubank (past-prime)
            - Robin Reid
            - Richie Woodhall
            - Byron Mitchell
            - Jeff Lacy (prime, undefeated)
            - Sakio Bika (prime)
            - Manfredo Jr
            - Mikkel Kessler (prime, undefeated)
            - Bernard Hopkins (past-prime, but he's still schooling boxers today, so Calzaghe gets a lot of credit for this win)
            - Roy Jones Jr (past-prime)

            Froch:
            - Robin Reid (past-prime)
            - Jean Pascal (prime, undefeated. went on to win lineal title at 175lbs)
            - Jermaine Taylor
            - Andre Dirrell (prime, undefeated)
            - Arthur Abraham (prime?)
            - Close decision loss to Kessler, arguably a draw.

Right now I'd say Calzaghe has a better resume, but after Froch beats Johnson AND Andre Ward, and gets a title win at 175lbs against a good opponent then I'd give it to Froch!

Froch the last 2 1/2 years = Jean Pascal , Jermain Taylor , Andre Dirrell , Mikkel Kessler , Arthur Abraham , Glen Johnson

Calzaghe's 15 year career = Chris Eubank , Jeff Lacy , Omar Sheika , Peter Manfredo Jr. , Roy Jones Jr. , Bernard Hopkins

              This is a tough one.
Go ahead and add Groves x2, Bute and Kessler to Froch's record and it's clear that Froch was the greater fighter.

Before people say Bute was weak, Bute was #1 at 168 and was the favorite heading into the fight before Froch destroyed him. That win was just as good as Calzaghe over Lacy. Froch has much more depth to his resume and fought at 168 during a tougher era

You know off hand I would say Froch without doubt
But in hindsight , Joe’s resume is not far off
This coming from a full fledge Calzaghe fan
