You're right. Joshua fought hard to pick up Fury's belts and he is a steady, reliable and dedicated champion. Fury has been a terrible lineal champion over the last 3 years by his own doing. But that's the thing about being the lineal champion: there's nothing artificial about it. You can't get stripped and nobody anoints you. You either beat the lineal champion, or you don't. So he's part of boxing history and if Wilder wins, he'll be part of history too. Not only that, regardless of who wins, they'll both be rewarded for stepping up (especially Fury). Joshua will be on the outside looking in and people will be wondering:

Why is he fighting Whyte, Pulev and Usyk?

More than likely, Joshua's team will advise him to wait until there is an easier lineal champion than the Wilder-Fury winner. Hopefully he goes against that advice and we see them fight while they are still in their primes.

Yes, to the casual fan, he has more belts and LOOKS like the real champion. But in this case, looks are deceiving. And both Wilder and Fury have stated publicly that they won't fight him for anything less than 50/50.
