The two parties' bylaws vary slightly. If Trump dies before the electoral college vote (not just the general election), then the RNC has the option to reconvene or allow the state representatives to vote on a successor. The DNC bylaws are not as specific in those regards as to the nomination of a successor. If the POTUS-elect dies between the time of the electoral college election and the inauguration, then the VP-elect is to be inaugurated in accordance with the Constitution.
