At the end of the day, what you have to ask is if the demands are (a) necessary and (b) reasonable.

The drug-testing wasn't necessary but it wasn't unreasonable either. Expecting Pacquiao to cut his long-time promoter out of his biggest fight is neither necessary nor reasonable.

Someone making unnecessary and unreasonable requests is someone who doesn't really want to reach a deal. But we've been through all this before.

But that's exactly what Floyd did when he fought Oscar. Floyd, Oscar, Cotto, all had the biggest payday of their career after leaving Top Rank. Of course it's not just about the promoters, there's also a lot of ego involved from both sides, but if Manny was a free agent I think the fight would be much more likely to happen.

Floyd just said over the weekend:

"Manny needs to focus on himself. He was thinking about getting a fight with me when he was about to fight Marquez, and he ended up getting knocked out"

That's Floyd himself pretty much unintentionally admitting that Pacquiao does in fact want the fight while Floyd is looking for ways out.
