  • MLB Playoff Picks

So, we're starting to get fairly far along in the season. Who do you see coming out of the regular season this year (remember, wild card rules just changed)? Obviously I'm hoping the A's can hang on to grab a spot, but it will be a tough battle. Other teams I'd like to see make it in whose races are very tight are the Pirates and Orioles.

Who do you see making it in?

    AL

    East: Yankees

    Central: White Sox or Tigers

    West: Rangers

    Wild Card #1: Rays

Wild Card #2: White Sox or Tigers

AL Upset of the Year: Angels not making it to the playoffs despite acquiring Albert Pujols, CJ Wilson and Zach Greinke aside from their already great team Tori Hunter, Dan Haren, Kendry Morales, Mark Trumbo, Mike Trout. Whole bunch of names, didn't do anything. And Pujols I think is on pace to have his worst year by far, batting average wise. He's 2HR's shy of getting his 12th consecutive season hitting 30+ HR's, 15 RBI's away from 100 RBI's.

Yankees deserve a LOT of props.

They have been injury plagued since before the season ever started, losing Joba to the trampoline accident, out for season. A big part of the bullpen. And an even bigger part of the bullpen, Mariano Rivera in early May, out for season. They have a shot to pieces+injured A-Rod. An injured Michael Pineda, a big acquisition in the offseason, before the season ever started, off for the whole season. Andy Pettite came back looking like a prime Pettite, got injured too. CC Sabathia, injured. Teixeira recently injured. A big part of the Yankees field/baserunning, Brett Gardner gone in April. Nick Swisher got injured a couple of times as well.

After all of that, still having the 3rd best record in the MLB.

I think records are going to mean very little this postseason. I feel it's really going to be an all-around tossup with just about every team having an equal chance, there's no truly dominant team this year in either league.

Ouch, no one believing in the A's for a wild card spot.

The A's are definitely in the Wild Card race. O's, White Sox, Tigers, A's are all in the same boat. Once the White Sox or Tigers clinch, the A's will only have to compete against the O's and whichever of the Tigers/Chi didn't make it. There's two spots, so they definitely have a shot.

The teams who are pretty much out of right now are Red Sox, Blue Jays, Indians, Royals, Twins, and Mariners.

As terrible as the Angels are right now, a little win streak here and there can put them back in position for a Wild Card spot.

Pretty crazy how well the Reddick trade worked out for Oakland. Boston has to be kicking itself for that one, even though they didn't have a real full-time spot for him.
