Default AJ Fans: How is AJ going to beat Ruiz with no footwork and no jab?

AJ has been winning his fights with pure size and strength, but andy ruiz is a master boxer who excels at getting on the inside and landing where he wants at his range. Andy ruiz is a complete boxer and those aren't pillows he's hitting you with.

Ruiz's only weakness is his height, so the ideal way to beat him would be to keep him at the end of your jab and moving your feet. AJ doesn't have a jab, and his defensive footwork is nonexistent, also he can't beat ruiz on the inside, where ruiz neutralizes his height.

Even if AJ trains the next few months to be muhammad ali, that's not his style. That's not who he is, he's not going to magically turn into something he's not.

So how are you people envisioning how AJ can possibly beat him lol

Please enlighten me.

He's had 8 world title fights.

He didn't beat Klitschko on size and strength because Klitschko matched him for that.

He has an Olympic gold medal and has beaten Olympic and World champion gold medalists.

Clearly he has adequate footwork and a jab. He just performed badly against Ruiz, jumped in for the kill and got concussed by a temple shot.

All he needs to do is not get concussed again and be more measured in combination punches (having respect for what may come back).

People are over analysing this shit by making out AJ has no skills. He underestimated Ruiz first time round, it happens. The third round concussion made the skill gap look bigger than it is IMO.

It won't happen again.

He beats him by not jumping in and helping Ruiz close the distance. Jabs and a straight right rather than lead left hooking.

"Joshua has adequate footwork and a jab"

Also:

Joshua couldn't stop andy ruiz who's half a foot shorter from getting on the inside all night

Ruiz is not a master boxer, he caught Joshua coming in after Joshua had dropped him. Joshua was stupid in the way he threw caution to the wind and tried to engage with someone who has faster hands than him.

Ruiz is a decent fighter in a weak era, let's not try and claim he is anything other than that

Ruiz has a powerful quick jab, quick feet on the attack, power in both hands, Speed, a strong inside game, can box, knows how to control range, combination puncher, goes to the body, strong chin, comes back when he's hurt.

Tell me, what is ruiz's weakness other than his height?

He does not have phenomenal footwork at all what are you talking about. He has hand speed and an inside game but he small both in height and reach, doesn't have the best upper body/head movement and doesn't have the best footwork.

Joshua should have boxed smart and kept him at range for an easy win (he would likely have got a late KO or a stoppage had he fought this way)

He was doing alright until he went for the kill and got caught. TS and others like to ignore that. They know Joshua likely wins the rematch that's why they keep saying he shouldn't take it it.

Ruiz is a very good fighter but he ain't no master boxer.

Watch the fight again, Joshua DID have success with the jab especially in the first 2 rounds.

It was suicide to stay in the pocket carelessly throwing bombs for that long with Ruiz who was nowhere near as hurt as he thought despite being dropped.

Ruiz will come into the rematch with a lot of confidence but round by round that will be taken away when he doesn't have the same opportunities to do his damage in those exchanges. Joshua will stop him late.

I edited my post before you posted, you took a while to reply lol.

I caught myself exaggerating, I meant he uses his feet effectively to close the distance and to reset.

Over and over I've seen him get on the inside, get his punches in and reset when he needs to and get out of range over much bigger fighters.

He has a good feel for range and when to engage, and has an effective jab that he uses to measure, control, check the body, that he can also use as a power jab, which is why I think he's a good boxer.
