I still see many impoverished immigrants entering the U.S. legally. Look at all of the immigrants coming over from Nigeria, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, Somalia, Latin America, etc. They didn't come here with suitcases full of cash. Somehow, many of them landed in traditional white, middle-class or upper-middle class communities and attend some of the best schools, receive top notch medical care in some of the best hospitals, and are able to earn a living wage.

What I like most about many of the immigrants who come here from impoverished countries is that they don't take American for granted. They aren't afraid to take risks, and they aren't afraid to work long hours make sacrifices. They see the opportunities that most American youths either ignore or complain about. They appreciate all of the perks that come with living in a free, capitalist society that has running drinkable water, indoor plumbing, sanitation departments that pick up our trash every week, 911 for emergencies, grocery stores with fresh produce, laws preventing discrimination, and the list can go on endlessly. For them, the American Dream is to be able to live like a human being without war, famine, or starvation.
