The greatest hits edition, brand new sealed costs $48 on Amazon and it's eligible for prime but there's only 1 left in stock. Good little collector's item for a fair price considering it's sealed and it's 20 years old.

MGS2 ruined that series and every game after that was a desperate course correction
MGS2 is a fantastic game. The problem is it's story wasn't supposed to be taken literally. It wasn't supposed to be a canonical event in the series. It was a meta narrative which remarkably foretold the age of social and digital media.

The Colonel and Rose's rambling for the last hour which everyone thought was just random nonsense turned out to be some of the most prophetic dialogue in all of video games.

Konima made MGS3 a prequel just in order not to try and cheapen MGS2 and turn that into just another event in the series timeline. Unfortunately the clamour for MGS4 was just too big that he had to actually think of ways to explain why Vamp could run up walls and shít, that's when the series went to pot. He had to answer questions that were never meant to be answered.

As for remaking MG1 and MG2, MG1 maybe but MG2's perfect the way it is, you can't improve on that game, it's light years ahead of MG1.
