Office is using a method that another company invented/patented... office isnt paying royalties to this company and since they have it patented, they sued, and the ruling is, MS is no longer allowed to sell this product since it uses someone else's program/method or whatever you want to call it... the company can't sell it instead, because the actual product is STILL a microsoft product, it just borrows other company's ideas illegally, in other words
my guess is that MS will try to buy their way out of it though

my guess is that MS will try to buy their way out of it though
they'll work out a deal where the guys that hold the patent will either get a percentage of ms office sales or they'll buy the patent outright.
this will be on top of whatever they have to pay for patent infringement.
that other company is gonna make a lot of money. hopefully their employees have shares of the company. they're all rich and can retire now.
