Martinez had a reflex based style like RJJ. he couldn't sustain his style once his knees went. his actual in the box boxing ability is god awful. Cotto outboxed him straight up. he needed his legs and the whole ring to set up his smoke and mirrors offense.

guys with heavy hands, unorthodox angles with good fundamentals generally last longer.

Golovkin isn't a speed guy either, he's a power punching pressure fighter...age won't impact his style and he's had no tough fights to accumulate much damage.

Sergio had no performance decrease until after the knee injury against Chavez, in fact he looked as good as ever. Having a nagging issue that isn't hurting performance isn't a big deal, a major injury that basically destroys your career is.

You're just trying to create a built in excuse if Gokovkin loses a fight.
Round 12 shows you that one of the reasons why Sergio schooled Jr so bad is that Jr was scared for 11 rounds. Once he went all in he had success. He should have fought that way earlier.

And he still looked great at 39, until his knee got ruined in that 12th round.

Its pretty straight forward; guy looks as good as ever, ruins his knee in the 12th round, looks like a shell of a fighter from then on.

my point is if it wasnt his knee it would be something else he shouldnt be fighting, exactly what cotto took advantage of.

It's easy to say that, but it's difficult to do when continually getting cracked on the chin.

Sergio tired as the fight went on (also broke his hand), Chavez got more aggressive in the last few rounds as a result, it happens.

he broke his hand on jr's face.

meaning jr should've pressed more. his face already won against sergio's fist.

                      Nonsense.

After the injury he required multiple surgeries, was told by doctors not to run, wasn't cleared to spar...his knee was completely destroyed.

Roach saw it in the Murray fight and pounced. Sergio's knee was literally giving way while moving around, it was collapsing without anything even happening.
