  • Pac vs Hatton/DLH revisited, Pac/Marg analysis

So Márquez says that Margo should not fight inside, but try to keep Manny away. That's going against conventional NSB wisdom, who thinks Margo can pull off a Cotto-like beatdown again by swarming Little Pac. So I checked out Pac vs Hatton again.

Now, the English commentators in the first round were saying that a brawl favored Hatton. By the second round they were saying Hatton's style was playing into the "new Pacquiao's" style. Everytime Hatton threw himself inside, even when he connected, Pac hit him. Often two, three times. Pac also got him after Hatton closed the distance. Plus Pac would move in/out/sideways and threw Hatton of balance and ****ted on his rhythm. Hatton tried to swarm Manny and failed miserably.

Then go watch Cotto vs Margarito. Cotto looks slow motion compared to Pac, in footwork, handspeed and even defensive head movement.

Mosley said that Cotto hit harder than Marg. He fought both.

David Rodela said that Manny hits harder than Marg. He spared with both.

Finally, watch Pac/DLH. When DLH went to Manny's body, Manny tapped him in the head, alternating hands. He even went so far as to cover a body shot with his left hand, and then immediately hit DLH in the head with that same hand (watch Round 2, around 1:20 left). DLH eventually stopped tapping Manny in the body because every time he did it, he got hit in the face.

    Manny will beat Margo, badly.

David Rodela would say that, he trains at the Wild Card. He rolls with Freddie to all of the fight in L.A. County area.

Just like Brandon Rios who is trained by Margo's trainer says Margo hits harder.

Thanks. You'll see it's not that obvious to a few out there.

But what is obvious is that Margo only fights one way and that way is one of which Manny has capitalized on within his career.

Yeah i totally agree. I analyzed Margaritos last fight with Roberto Garcia. His footwork was a mess. He looked terribly slow. Now dont get me wrong. This is a dangerous fight manny is going into, Thats if he gets caught by one of margaritos big bombs he throws. The key to even have a chance to win is be in 100% condition. But i think were gonna see a 8th or 9th round stoppage. Pacquiao winner by TKO

The limited success Hatton had in their fight came whenever he was on the inside or in a clinch. Hatton's problem was that he didn't know how to GET into the inside.

As much as it plays into Pac's hands, Margarito has to press forward throwing. He doesn't have anything close to the skills he would need to box Pacquiao. His only chance is moving forward, eating punches, and hoping his size allows him to wear Pac down.
