Mind explaining what it smelled, and tasted like? And how in the world is rotting fish ok to eat? I read that this is part of the Swedish diet too.

I would say the smell is worse than the taste, but it's definitely an acquired taste, old fermented fish.

it's just salted dried fish. we have a lot of those, also dried squid. yes, the smell is horrible but it taste good specially with vinegar.

Minke whale delicious(like Fillet steak)..
Horse, tasty with pepper sauce and side of vege..
Haršfiskur, dried fish many varieties lovely with butter

But back to this Kęstur hįkarl (Icelandic for "treated shark") i had to!! it wasn't going to be the complete experience other wise, it comes in a little stinky cube of off whitish looking hardened lard, it taste oh so much worse than it smells and looks!!
