He has HBO now and is the new cash cow in boxing thinking he will have similar demands as he did 2 years ago against Lara is foolish.

GGG does about 1mil live viewers on hbo. Canelo did double that with 2.2mil the highest rating hbo has seen in a decade. A little bit of a gap dont you think? GGG sold out msg while Canelo sells out baseball arenas double the capacity and Las Vegas arenas. Again a bit of a gap don't you think? GGG bombed on ppv. Canelo just had 10x the amount of ppv buys. You need to judge based on who Canelo is now especially after his win against cotto and who GGG is now. And nothing on GGG resume compares to canelo not accomplishes and damn sure not the money each generates. GGG has no other options while canelo makes far more then GGG does regardless who he fights. GGG either backs down to canelos demands or he gets no fight and can keep complaining to fans when asked why hasn't he fought anybody relevant. LMAO
No, good sir. Cotto/Canelo did 6x the PPVs that Golovkin/Lemieux did.
Canelo by himself does 2x what Golovkin did in his PPV debut.

No what you want to do is take the low mark from Canelo 2 years ago and compare that to high mark from GGG a few months ago. So Canelo has not grown in popularity in 2 years? Get your head out your @ss you fanboy. And if we go by that dumb logic then if not for Lemieux and his canada fanbase then he doesn't even do 50K PPV. Canelo was not drawing 2.2mil on live cable 2 years ago and wasn't doing 900K PPVs. But he is now and that's what he is bringing to the negoatiton table for 2016. GGG can bring his little 97k or 150k PPV flop which ever numbers you want to go by and it doesn't compare to Canelo. Skew the numbers all you want Canelo is the draw here and will demand the lion share of the money. 10% of Canelo = more then what he got for Lemieux or anyone else he can fight. If he's serious about the fight do what Canelo did when he fought Floyd take a catchweight and a 10% split. Other wise kick rocks and the rest of GGG die hards can try to explain away why his resume is so void of relevant names.

when did i ever argue that GGG is on Canelo's popularity level. so GGG drew 1 million, Canelo drew 2.2 million thats not a 10/90 split. The Cotto PPV is not a good comparison... lets compare the Angulo PPV, he drew what 350k? that's 2-3 times more than GGG did vs. Lemiux. (using Cotto or Mayweather PPV numbers is BS because Canelo was the B side and wasn't the main draw). if you want to make a proper comparison we need to compare apples to apples not apples to oranges.

so if Oscar says 99/1 you guys will use the same argument... GGG isnt a draw doe, GGG has no choice, Canelo has options.

Like i said lets call it like we see it, oscar doesn't want the fight for Canelo cause he is likely going to lose and all you guys are supporting that agenda.

        • It would be reasonable if GGG wasn't an overrated fighter. Thanks to GGG's repuation, Canelo would make much more than he would do.

Hahaha, dude you're priceless. You just called Canelo/Lara his "low mark", even those it came less than a year after Mayweather, while at the same time claiming that Golovkin's DEBUT on PPV is his "high mark".

In your world, fighters always get popular 2 years after their biggest fight, while fighters never get popular after their first big fight.

Oh btw, here's a google analysis of Canelo's popularity over time:

            And here's Golovkin's

You keep living in your own little dream world though, it must be cozy there.

It's a shame google trends don't equate to PPV buys. Maybe he would've managed more than a measly 97k.

              • I'm disappointed to hear ODH talk like that. First, Canelo said he will only fight GGG @ 155, now this BS. Wait, I smell something...What is that? Oh yeah, it's PUSSY. Step it up fellas, or you'll lose fans.

Again you can't compare GGG now to Canelo 2 years ago against Angulo because he's more popular now then he was against Angulo. Either compare where Canelo was 2 years ago to Angulo when he did 350K to GGG 2 years ago when he couldn't even fill an arena and had 0 PPVs. Or compare Canelo now to GGG now. If you think Canelo commands the same purse after he beat Cotto as he did going into a Angulo fight your a dumb as phuk. And stop you know damn well Canelo was no B side against Cotto. Cotto and Canelo both fought on regular HBO earlier this year. One guy sold out a baseball stadium and did 2.2m viewers on HBO. The other didn't. At all the press conferences for the fight who's fan base dominated? INCLUDING IN NYC BY THE WAY! When HBO aired their 24/7 who did HBO show and focus on first Canelo or Cotto? Did that arena in Vegas look like Cotto house or a Canelo house? Cotto got first name billing that's all. Canelo brought more fans to the table.

damn GGG fans think because they talk about him alot on message boards or google him that it translates to the real world. And had their dreams shattered when reality hit when GGG's PPV numbers came back so they still trying to sugar coat it and have hit a alltime pathetic low bringing up google trends when talking about what a fighter is worth in negotiations. Every measurable possible shows Canelo is trending up like a shooting star and had a monster year and if you want to talk about filling arenas, live gates, live TV ratings on HBO, or PPV's all show Canelo brings more fans to the table then GGG by a huge margin. If GGG wants to get more then 10% split then fight someone with a real name and don't flop on your own PPV. Canelo could do more then 97k/150K PPV if you aired him shadowboxing.

Just over 150K according to this article at ESPN: (I would link it but not sure if Boxing Scene approves)
