They have great conditioning, the thing about football is that it's all about being able to explode, being able to push the other player out of the way or running past them.

When you're pushing you're using your lats/pecs/shoulders/quads/hamstrings/calves/triceps/biceps/forearms/abs etc.! You're using a huge amount of muscles.

Each play is like maxing out with all those muscles, it's extremely tiring especially considering you're trying to block a 6'7 290lb defensive end like Julius Peppers or a ton of other monsters. Some guys are so powerful they get double teamed and still break out of the double team. Can you imagine the power it takes to bowl over 2 300lb men that can bench and squat over 500lbs each? They're not tired from running at all.

It's sort of like wrestling, when you see these MMA guys exhausted from rolling on the ground it's because of all the muscles they're using.

"They're all in the NFL and NBA" is a lame excuse for their failure.

The USA didn't win a single medal in boxing in any weight division at the 2012 Olympics. The flyweights, lightweights and welterweights are too small for the NBA/NFL, so why didn't they at least win a bronze?

But they never will receive respect and recognition from some people, no matter what they accomplish.

Well its a different game from the ams to the pros so I can't rightly saw but neither can you, likewise American's have not historically produced that many great small fighters.

They have their successes in the Middleweight - Heavyweight divisions. It might be that boxing has shrunk as a sport in the U.S and grown in a lot of the rest of the world, so less children want to become boxers and more lean towards basketball/football or even education.

There is definitely something wrong with the American amateur system though, they have been producing less talent each year. They need to focus and give the boxing program more funding, the GB boxing team has gone from strength to strength since 2000. If the US could follow a similar blueprint they might have more success.

Yes they are tired from running, Americam football doesn't require endurance so they don't train much and bulking up means you have to carry more weight when running.

They're tired from pushing, every single play is similar to maxing out on your bench and squats. These guys run miles and miles, they're not tired from running lol. A lot of these guys used to run track in school as well some even went on to run in the Olympics like Justin Gatlin, a gold medal winner.

You're using nearly every muscle in your entire trying to push and run around guys. It's extremely tiring especially considering how insanely strong and fast these guys are.

Most of these guys played college basketball as well, a sport that requires a ton of endurance, the guy I brought up Julius Peppers who's 6'7 290lbs with 6% body fat did.

These guys workout like beasts, if you get a chance look up Adrian Peterson training or Ladanian Tomlinson, or Julius Peppers, these guys don't just lift weights.

WTF?! Ever heard of Barry Sanders, Ray Lewis, Jerry Rice? Great athletes

Ray Lewis at 37 is in better shape than most 20 year olds.

You can't be serious....You think basketball players would make good boxers?

Have you ever even seen an NBA scuffle? Dudes throw punches like a kid sister.
