  • Tommy Burns

A tribute to the most anonymous among world heavyweight champions ...

1906: Tommy, dominating light heavy champ Philadelphia Jack O’Brien, had to settle for a draw after a poor decision by the referee, ex-champ Jim Jeffries.

1907: Underdog Tommy retaining the title against Bill Squires (1st meeting, Jeffries referee).

1907: Tommy vs British champ Moir. Wiki: Burns was the first truly international heavyweight champion, defending his title in America, England, Ireland, France and Australia. His title defense against Gunner Moir in London was the first World Heavyweight championship fight of the gloved era to be held outside of The United States.

1920: Tommy’s final bout, at the age of 39.
