  • How are Floyd Mayweather jr and Andre Ward more skilled than Wladimir Klitschko?

How are Floyd Mayweather jr and / or Andre Ward more skilled than either Klitschko brother in terms of boxing skills when:

    1) Both brothers, particularly Wladimir has lost fewer
rounds than either Floyd Mayweather Jr or Andre Ward
    combined.

    2) Both Klitschko brothers are defensively just as good, if
not better than Ward or Mayweather (get hit by the
same amount, if not even less) but have a superior
offense (more frequently inflict more damage upon
their opponents, stop their opponents and land more
effective punches upon their opponents). Therefore,
Klitschko brothers are more skilled because they are
offensively better whilst defensively, it is at the very
least (from the Klitschko perspective), a tie!

    3) Both Klitschko brothers have been far more dominant
overall against their opponents than either Floyd
    Mayweather Jr or Andre Ward.

So just before the comments related to Corrie Sanders doe, Lamon Brewster doe or Chris Byrd doe are posted, keep in mind that 3 or 4 losses in the heavyweight division in a career spanning near 70 bouts or more are insignificant, when taking into consideration that both Klitschko brothers have set records and accomplished feats that are unparalleled from their victories. In other words, their unparalleled achievements from their victories make their losses insignificant and irrelevant. Wladimir Klitschko's dominance for nearly a decade > Floyd Mayweather Jr's or Andre Ward's dominance over their opposition over any period of time.

Vitali has a garbage resume for a start, so if he looked more dominant, that's why. He fought one genuine top opponent who was a bit shot and out of shape and still got his eye caved in and stopped.

Wlad on the other hand did fight some good opposition and was usually dominant until he was old. Once he found a style that suits him after the earlier losses, then he become a very good heavyweight. He was boring at times but extremely effective. In terms of being effective with a certain style, i have no issue putting him alongside Ward especially. Both were very effective with their style of boxing.

I couldn't put him alongside Floyd though. Floyd showed a lot of sides to his game throughout his career. Floyd around 2001 is quite a different fighter to the Floyd of around 2011, yet he was able to dominate different era's with a different style. Wlad wouldn't have that ability and i doubt Ward would too.

There were times (especially in the first Sam Peter fight) where Wladimir Klitschko looks genuinely terrified of getting hit. It's hilarious viewing.

Not true! Mayweather's or Ward's offensive skills are nowhere near as good. Hence, horrific feather fisted record.

However, the Klitschko brothers, especially Wlad has a defense that is just as good, if not better than the duo of Ward or Mayweather.

There has never been a boxer that has knocked out / stopped more previously unbeaten / never knocked out opponents than Wladimir Klitschko.

Wladimir Klitschko has dominated number one contenders, top ranked opponents, mandatories and unbeaten challengers unlike anyone before. Floyd Mayweather Jr and Andre Ward only dream of being able to do such a thing.
