The timing was never right for there to be any serious talks of fights. By the time McCallum had made himself enough of a name to warrant those big fights! Hagler was retired. So that's silly talk.

I think Hagler would have beaten Benitez, but the MCallum fight would have been great. A prime McCallum would be fighting a past it Hagler though.

I love McCallum but he is lucky he didn't have to fight the Haglers, Hearns and Leonards. He would have been dominated.

Hagler-Benitez might have happened but the Hamsho beating eliminated the option.

Late 80s when these fights were possible,, mccallum would crush Leonard, him and hearns is 50/50. Mike didn't like movement, but tommy wasn't a great mover like a Hopkins was

Watch Kalambay-McCallum 1 to get a better idea. Kalambay was alot like Leonard but not as good. Kalambay gave Mike a lesson, Leonard would too.

Yes prime Leonard of late 70s early 80s but not late 80s...

Kalambay had an awkward movement vs mccallum, but late 80s Leonard would not have been able to keep it up for 12 rounds.. Especially after mccallum landed some bodyshots... Long night for Ray Leonard IMO

Kalambay at that point would have been hell on Ray too. The Nunn fight was just one of those perfect shots. Sumbu was a very good boxer.
