  • HBO turns down Alvarez and Kovalev Rematch

I don't know how boxing scene is with posting links to other sites but I've seen it on a few sites/forums/twitter that HBO wont pick it up.

They want to do the bare minimum in boxing. Kovalev one of the guys they have featured is now perceived to be done so they want no part of this fight.

How about put this with Stevenson/Gvozdyk? Or too expensive for that type of card? If not, you could bet your money Hearn will go hard after this fight. Could lead to a unification bout with his fighter Beterbiev.

Beterbiev and Alvarez have the same trainer
      Marc Ramsay
      Same promoter
      Yvon Michel
      and same advisor
      Al haymon

so if kovalev doesnt win i dont see a beterbiev option

yeah but kovalev was never a big draw for HBO. it's no loss for HBO they get better ratings with the superfly cards. HBO need to bring bivol on board.

Alvarez vs Kovalev didn't even do that much better than Kovalev vs shabransky. I dont know if Kovalev will try to go on a new network. HBO is able to match deals if they want if another network picks it up.

Id like to see Alvarez/Kovalev and Bivol on Hearn's December New York card. Give them another round April/May time, then they go into the WBSS Sep/Oct.

Put it on the Stevenson/Gvozdyk card and Gvozdyk wins, you end up with the champions split all over the place. No chance of a WBSS.

Bivol - HBO or Facebook, lol.
              Alvarez - Showtime
              Beterbiev - DAZN
              Gvozdyk - ESPN

              Nightmare situation

Not Kovalev from a few years ago. No doubt his popularity dropped after the Ward fights but before that he was doing good ratings.

Alvarez could fight on any network. He's not a guy SHO has invested big time in. Has fought there multiple times, but he's not tied down there nor has the type of loyalty to SHO as other fighters do.

All of those guys would be able to enter the WBSS tournament. Plus, I don't see Jack or his team turning it down just because of SHO. Gvozdyk is the one I'm not sure about as Arum doesn't want to give any of his fighters rights up. Top Rank needs as many cards as possible, and Arum would hate to lose Gvozdyk on DAZN.

34 days left for Mainevent to make an offer for the rematch, they still havent officially done it, wonder if 34 days is more than enough time to get a new network for the fight. (date must be before feb 4)
