Social Security was supposed to be independent and separate of the federal budget. It's funded by payroll tax...which is strictly supposed to go into the SS Trust fund. It has nothing to do with the Federal Tax and other spending. However the Govt. has borrowed (or stolen) all that money and left I.O.U's.. to finance other spending. Obama confirmed this when he threatened that SS check might not be arriving on time if the debt ceiling isn't raised. It's time to abolish the whole damn thing and let everyone go their separate ways and save, invest.
