    World Boxing Association super middleweight world champion Andre Ward made a triumphant ring return Saturday, stopping Britain's Paul Smith in the ninth round of a non-title bout in Oakland, California.

    The 31-year-old Ward improved to 27-0 with 14 wins inside the distance.

    Ward, a gold medallist at the 2004 Olympics, gained prominence in 2011 with his victory in the Super Six Middleweight professional tournament.

      Smith is awful, but it was nice to see Ward looking really sharp. **** the haters, Andre Ward being back is a great thing.

                Ward improved to 28-0 with 15 KOs not the 27-0 the writer posted. These guys frequently post wrong facts, typos, or untruths. Do they proofread their stuff at all?

                  He looked sharp and clinical.

                  Smith is obviously not very good, but Ward was his usual self.

                    Watched the first 5 rounds then fell asleep. Was like watching Ward hit a walking heavy bag.
