Say what you want, but at least GGG doesn't act like he can only fight on certain days of the year to sell fights.

Like Mexicans really need a holiday excuse to buy modelos and smoke mota

No he cant. Golovkin has surpassed Cotto as a draw.

I was telling people all through the build up and the negotiations, this fight was going to be bigger than the sum of its parts.

GGG vs Canelo was a brand of its own and just looking at how well Golovkin and Alvarez sell by themselves wasnt going to be a good indication of how well the fight was gonna do.

Glad so many watched such a good fight. Even with the controversy. Bring on the rematch.

Generally PPV buyers have got value for money on both sides of the pond this year, even if it didnt look like it before the fight. AJ vs Wlad, Bellew vs Haye, Spence vs Brook, GG vs Canelo and even Mayweather vs Mcgregor were exciting fights.

hopefully thats a good thing...hopefully that sets a standard that the general public now know the difference between a real premiere prizefight with two name prime guys, and a hyped up promotion that in reality is a mismatch, where the outcome can be easily predicted...

what has been passing for top notch ppv the last couple of years should have on regular hbo or showtime...

Of course that goes for both the guys.. Smith & Khan combined barely made 600-650K
Shows you it takes two to tango..

Except Cotto, Floyd, Chavez who are popular names themselves(agreed Chavez is less than the other two but the mex-mex rivalry got them buys) who has he done a million with?

Correction, there is no boxing star current or in past 5 years who sells a million or close "by themselves". Every 1m+ PPV had 2 popular fighters in it. There are a few exceptions all of which included either Floyd or Manny, like Floyd vs. Guerrero and Manny vs. Bradley.

Canelo sells ~200-400k by himself, which is inline with most other superstars of the last 30 years. Golovkin sold 150k & 170k in his PPVs, which made him a very strong B side.

2m PPVs don't grow on trees.
