I only can imagine. Never heard of that though, sounds interesting. Didn't listen to much Stern, except best of shows and tapes or when my mom had the radio on on the way to school in the morning. Later became more of an O&A fan. "Tell 'em Fred, hoo hoo hoo."

Biggs didn’t have protective management guide his career.

He was way too young n green when he got the Tyson fight.

Had they moved him along at a slower pace, he could have become seasoned and been a real threat 88-90

Main Events was cashing him out. Not much has changed today with Duva.

You know, some fighters can do well with out much amateur experience, while some fighters with stellar amateur careers go bust as pro's. For example, Billy Conn, Rocky Marciano and Pinklon Thomas. I don't think they had 10 amateur fights between the 3 of them. Two became ATG's and Thomas was a pretty good top tier heavyweight who did better than Biggs, IMO.

Biggs had an outstanding amateur career but wasn't anything special as a pro.

Gassiev had a minor amateur career as well. I think Chavez Jr. had enough to count on one hand.

--- Briggs 6 yrs OLDER than mike and turned pro a year earlier and Olympic gold medalist oozing in natural attributes.

Yeah, prob into the nose candy by Tyson sorta like you in your bag of glue, but a top win for Tyson anyway.

Do you think Main Events overmatched Briggs while building him?

--- No, Briggs faced the usual suspects before his title shot.

Initially Tyson had prob with Briggs huge length, speed and movement, but with smart pressure eventually reeled him in for the denouement.

Drug abuse probably followed Biggs throughout his career, including his amateur days (he was treated for it already before turning pro). In a way, it’s a wonder he ever reached a World title fight.
