I think he's a serious contender. I think he can beat Alexander

Brook has to come with better conditioning this time around, cuz Saldivia is good on the inside and throws with conviction. Brook can't afford to fade down the stretch.
He didn't lose respect for Brook until he had started to gas.

Jones got brave a few times in the first half of the fight and paid for it, he was getting caught clean over and over and was visibly stunned a couple of times in the process. Brook began to tire in the 6th and Jones picked up on it, he then took the fight over from the 8th on (11th being 50/50).

The only reason that fight got close was because of poor conditioning, until Brook gassed it was an example of fighters at different levels. As has been the case since, his conditioning is what we'll keep an eye on.

Hes a legit contender he needs to take training more serious and he could get a strap. The only 147 champ that anybody can get a shot at is Paulie. Pac is only fighting inhouse lightweights and super lightweights and Floyds only fighting??? Canelo. Anyways he should fight Khan if hes coming up to 147.

Brook didn't magically gas by himself, Jones took the fight to him and hurt him. He was being careful in the first half because of Brook's power but when he decided to turn the heat on he exposed Brook.

He's definitely got some skills and talent but he's not without his flaws. Stamina is a big one, nearly cost him the Jones fight. He's got many defensive flaws which should've really been sorted out by now. He's too open for that right-hand at times and I can see that really causing him problems against better opposition.

Ends his career after being a highly rated welterweight.
He damn near did sort that out. 114-114, 115-113. This is a guy who's 34-8 and has losses to guys that are used for fighters to look good like Alfonso Gomez, Freddy Hernandez, Karrass, Roberto Garcia. Carson Jones isn't even in their level. He had no business fighting such a close fight with Brook if Brook is all that good.

"Being careful" as in getting completely outclassed. Yeah Im sure that was part of the game plan....

Sure he is a legit contender, 147 is pretty soft now so he could make some waves but time will tell if he can really make that next step beyond contender.

Jones is a good trial horse, currently.

Brook has shown stamina issues in the past, in fights he has totally dominated.

It's a problem that has been there, it was just brought to the forefront because Jones put pressure on him. Sometimes it has to be on full display for a fighter to correct it, we'll see if that happens.

Boxing fans are ridiculous to use the 'exposed' nonsense after one tough fight or sub-par performance, all fighters need those gut-check fights to see what they have abd Brook came through his. Most top fighters have one of those on the path to world level.

He hasn't fought top ten contender yet, I think. All I can remember is Carson Jones is decent one and yet the one he struggled against. So no, I don't think him to be serious until he fights real opposition like his fellow countryman Amir Khan.

Jones is a different guy than when he lost to most of those cats, he was fighting those guy when he was 20 (he is 26 now) and very green. He has upped his game a lot since then. Soto Karass did do a number on him but he was still a work in progress.

Is Carson Jones really that good, if you are talking world class champion level then no but for a gate keeper he is certainly good enough to test a contender as he currently is.
